FUCAM will no longer receive government funding
After the announcement of the decision not to deliver more public resources to the Breast Cancer Foundation (FUCAM), the Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell, said during a press conference at the National Palace that It will give continuity to the cases that were already being treated by the foundation, and that the new cases detected can be treated in free hospitals that operate in CDMX. At the conference it was reported that, FUCAM being a private non-profit entity, it could provide free public services because it received its financing from Seguro Popular, that is, from the taxes that we all pay. Therefore, despite the successes in the quality of care they offered, in an administrative scheme in which public resources were spent directly to finance a private entity (which is not exactly considered effective or transparent), The decision was made to no longer contract with that supplier, so that the new system does not include the contracting of private entities. Therefore, it would not be a question of any particular action against said institution. The public official also pointed out that new cases of breast cancer can be treated in three free highly specialized hospitals that operate in Mexico City, a coverage area managed by FUCAM, and that have the necessary care capacity. The hospitals he mentions are: The Juárez Hospital of Mexico. The General Hospital of Mexico. The National America Cell Phone Number List Cancer Institute. In the words of the undersecretary: A careful analysis has been made of the capacity to handle new cases. FUCAM treated nearly a thousand people, a thousand new cases and these can be perfectly absorbed along with the nearly 22 thousand cases of breast cancer treated by public hospitals. Regarding the treatments already granted by the foundation, it was assured that none will be suspended and will continue to be financed with public money.

The statement ends with a thank you to the Federal Government, the Ministry of Health, and INSABI for the commitment and support shown. As well as reiterate its collaboration with the new health system in pursuit of the well-being of women vulnerable to breast cancer.
